SUBMISSION FROM THE BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

HI GUYS,

Welcome welcome.

This is a very touchy issue and a lot of people have something to say about it but here’s my 2 cents from what I could get from the Bible.

Ephesians 5:21-25 (New International Version)

21.And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22For wives, THIS MEANS submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. 24As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

25For husbands, THIS MEANS love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her.

Now, how has society skipped 21, key word SUBMIT TO ONE ANOTHER.

To just focus on 22, thoroughly dissecting how the woman is supposed to submit. Then NOBODY talks about 25, how the man is supposed to submit. Especially 25b that shows the intensity of love a man should have for his wife. Using Christ death for the church as a metaphor to show how sacrificial and deep the husband is meant to love the wife.

I like the fact that the Bible first of all said SUBMIT TO ONE ANOTHER but the Bible didn’t stop there, it showed us how this submission is supposed to work from both angles by using the word “THIS MEANS” in 22 and 25

Simply put.

Wife, if you’re submitting your will to your husband and he is not loving you sacrificially, IT IS FLAWED!

Husband, go and do your assignment and if the husband is doing everything and wife is not submitting, IT IS FLAWED!

Thus, the problem in my opinion has not been addressed. I dare ask…

Has the man loved the woman sacrificially and the woman found submitting a problem OR

The woman has been the one loving the man sacrificially and still submitting at the same time?

Dear women, your culture has taught you something different, go to your bible and search for yourself. If your man is not loving you sacrificially, HE IS NOT SUBMITTING TO YOU like Ephesians 5:21 said. IF HE IS NOT SUBMITTING TO YOU and keeping his end of the instruction, you have no right to either.

If you’re interpreting these verses differently, feel free to comment.

  1. I think this is really insightful. Sometimes we take some part of scripture and somehow ignore the WHOLE truth just so we can giving some backing to some flawed ways of thinking. This is really good stuff….a really table shaker though lol..
