PLACES TO VISIT IN BOTSWANA

We’d be touring around Botswana today by looking at some of the breathtaking places that you can have a great time.

Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta in Botswana is one of the most beautiful and unique places to visit while visiting the country. It is one of the world’s largest inland Delta where a wide variety of ecosystem exist from lush green vegetation to dry grasslands to swamps and cutting through the Kalahari desert.

This Delta is responsible for providing water to the wide range of wildlife found in the region. You can go for safari tour or wildlife spotting activities to see animals like cheetahs, zebras, elephants, crocodiles, giraffes and birds.

Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park is one of the largest wildlife reserves in Botswana which is found along the Chobe River where it derives its name from and having different ecosystems including marshland, flood plains, savannah, grasslands, woodland.

This National Park has a wide variety of rare animals in Africa especially having a large population of elephants. Other animals that can be found in the park include birds, baboons, giraffes, buffalo, impala, waterbucks, lions, hyenas and leopards.

The best time to visit Chobe National Park is during the period between May to October when the weather is dry and cool, at this time, many animals can be seen moving around.

Tsodilo Hills

Tsodilo hills is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites due to the history of this place. It is characterized by unique rock formations ranging in different shapes and sizes and rock paintings from time past.

The Basarwa or San tribe from ages are believed to have been dwelling in these hills where they made cave paintings of wildlife on the rocks. This site appeared from the ground at the northwestern part of the Kalahari Desert. 

Moremi Game Reserve

The Moremi Game Reserve is the most beautiful wildlife reserve in Africa. It is a small game reserve which has a wide variety of wildlife such as wild dogs, herds of elephants, birds, rhinos.

This game reserve is situated at the eastern part of the Okavango Delta and shares a border with Chobe National Park.

Central Kalahari Game Reserve

This game reserve covers over 52,000 km² making it the second largest game reserve in the world. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve has a semi arid grassland wilderness having a diverse range of wildlife.

This Reserve has a place where you can stay and view wildlife, it is known as the Deception Valley Lodge which is the best place in the Kalahari.
