LOVE IS ENOUGH 2: GOD’S PERSPECTIVE

To wrap this up guys, let’s look at a scripture and balance everything out…

Mark 12:28b-31 “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

So Jesus himself said the two most important commandments are centered on “love”. Love for the father first, then love for yourself, because if you don’t love yourself you can’t love your neighbour. Then love for your neighbour. The love chain thus being: Love for; God-Self-Neighbour.

Here’s what I think we’ve not really gotten ; It is in truly understanding that having sacrificial love for the father and embodying it so much that we strive to love him back in that measure regardless of how imperfect, this is when we start come to understanding love. This is because in loving the father, we are transformed to look like him in deeds, action and character.

When this begins to happen, we see ourselves through the lens of his sacrificial love and his person, we place value on ourselves because we now understand eternal life and embrace the abundant life in Christ Jesus and it is in this understanding of love we are able to reflect the love of Christ in us to our neighbours. It is important to note that BY OUR HUMAN FLESH, WE CAN NEVER TRULY UNDERSTAND LOVE! THE FLESH HAS A MYOPIC VIEW OF LOVE BECAUSE LOVE IS A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT AND THE SPIRIT CANNOT BE SUBJECT TO THE FLESH!

This post really doesn’t do justice guys but I’m hoping you understood the basics. Finally, I’ll say that; LOVE IS NEVER SELFISH! Love for Christ is daily death to self (flesh) and staying alive in him (living by the spirit). It is doing what pleases him as opposed to what pleases you. It is no different with relationships and friendships.

You constantly strive to please this person, the person does the same, there is a balance created. At the centre, the overall motive being to please God. No confusion whatsoever, the same path, no one trying to just focus on themselves. Everyone lays their pride down. Will it be easy, NO! Does the understanding make it easier, YES!

See it as this, No matter what your parents did, they still birthed you and are still your parents as you are still their child. No matter how God comes through in a situation, he’s still God, it doesn’t change his status. No matter what you must have suffered for lack of understanding of God’s love and properly embodying it, LOVE IS STILL ENOUGH!

As always, a lot of intentionality, daily submission to the spirit, prayers and willingness is required. Maybe, just maybe, to the world, Love is not enough. But in the Kingdom of God and as believers, the truth remains unchanged. GOD IS LOVE AND IF GOD IS ENOUGH, LOVE IS ENOUGH!
